The Great Commission

While on a recent day-trip to visit family, I decided to take a few song requests on our hour-long drive. My almost three- and five-year-olds both eagerly shouted from the backseat for the song “My Jesus” by Anne Wilson. As we all belted out the lyrics:

He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that He can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He's done for me
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life

I was struck by both their confidence and zeal as they sang wholeheartedly about Jesus. As I stared in my rearview mirror at my little evangelists, I was reminded of God’s command for all believers to share with others the miracle of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross and resurrection from the grave. While numerous techniques and approaches for sharing the gospel exist, one tool Little Britain Presbyterian Church has been utilizing this year is called the 3 Circles Method, developed by Jimmy Scroggins, pastor of First Baptist Church in West Palm Beach, FL. So far, Steve Roten has provided two training sessions to the Jr. High Sunday School Class and the Discipleship Class.

The goal of the six-week training session is to equip believers to share their faith with non-believers by turning everyday conversations into gospel conversations.

Stay-tuned as we review each of the circles over the next few weeks, so that you feel empowered to share “your” Jesus with others!

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…”
